Programs

The Professional Master’s in Basic Education (PPGEB/UNIARP) is intended for teachers, managers and others interested in investigating and transforming educational institutions and their own performance. By prioritizing research with intervention, it encourages the creation of educational products that contribute to management and teaching and are committed to creative and innovative possibilities for teaching and learning processes linked to Basic Education.

The activities at PPGEB/UNIARP began in 2016. With the implementation of the stricto sensu program of a professional nature, it was intended to enhance research and the pedagogical and didactic capacity of managers and teachers of Basic Education, to promote the understanding of the problems that affect schools in their multidimensionality and propose solutions for them.

Course Name: Basic Education

Mission: To promote the training of professionals committed to research with intervention and the development of educational products that meet the demands of Basic Education in an innovative, humanized and sustainable way.

Goals

  • Promote the training of managers and teachers who investigate and transform their own actions and educational institutions, aiming at their improvement and the improvement of pedagogical practices in Basic Education’.
  • To encourage the training of managers and teachers committed to the process of social transformation, through the articulation between academic knowledge, research and educational practice.
  • Train managers and research professors, with competence to analyze the relationships between public policies and education management and between culture, teaching, health and teacher training.
  • Promote research activities with didactic, scientific and technological purposes, aiming at access, production and dissemination of knowledge and innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Stimulate research with intervention in Basic Education, for the identification, valorization, resignification and dissemination of transdisciplinary and eco-forming management and teaching initiatives.
  • Stimulate academic and scientific relationships with similar programs offered by Brazilian and foreign institutions, to strengthen the articulation between school education, development and human formation.

Formation

Graduate profile:

Training of a reflective, creative and proactive professional, capable of identifying problems related to the dynamics that are typical of school organizations, to propose, implement and evaluate alternatives for overcoming them, with the horizon of their improvement and the improvement of management and teaching of Basic Education.

For that, the curricular design (Transdisciplinary Curriculum Matrix) was designed to favor the articulation between the disciplines and the disciplines in relation to reality. This format focuses on the mission of PPGEB/UNIARP, especially for its emphasis on training professionals committed to research with intervention and the development of educational products in an innovative, humanized and sustainable way.

Likewise, it meets the objectives of the PPGEB/UNIARP, contributing to the development of essential skills and abilities so that master’s students can investigate and transform their own performance, as well as to contribute to the transformation of management and teaching practices in Basic Education institutions. . Therefore, the Practical Activity of the Research Groups – APGP and events carried out systematically are linked to the development of the disciplines.

Research Lines and Projects

– Research lines:

  • LP 1 – PUBLIC POLICIES AND EDUCATION MANAGEMENT:

 

This line has the qualification for management in Basic Education as its main focus. It analyzes the relationship between the State and civil society in the social, economic and cultural contexts. It studies the processes of correlation of social forces that involve interests, conflicts and disputes aimed at guaranteeing the basic rights of citizens, in this case, the right to education. With regard to the production, implementation and evaluation of educational policies, it focuses primarily on aspects related to educational management. It also studies the organization, functioning, monitoring, evaluation and control instances of the institution, with a view to training teachers to intervene in the reality in which they are inserted. It develops applied research and intervention projects in the following areas:

a) educational management policies, dynamics and strategies;

b) evaluations of educational systems and networks;

c) perspectives of innovation – technical and technological – in the area of ​​education;

d) organizational culture in educational spaces;

e) economic-financial management and sustainability in educational organizations.

 

  • LP 2 – CULTURE, TEACHING, HEALTH AND TEACHER TRAINING:

 

Its objective of reflection, analysis and transformation is in the qualification of teacher training (initial and continuing) and in professional practice. Therefore, it prioritizes the pedagogical culture, constituted by the set of beliefs, skills, theories, attitudes, norms, values, ideologies, demands and practices present in the school context, aiming at its understanding and the design of actions that generate its transformation. In this process, it identifies knowledge and initiatives relevant to pedagogical processes, as well as ways in which knowledge is generated and transformed in teaching and learning processes in the sphere of Basic Education. It links research that stimulates protagonism in the development of educational products compatible with the demands of Basic Education, prioritizing:

a) the diagnosis and critical analysis of the problems of teaching in Basic Education and the creation of alternatives aimed at meeting the identified demands;

b) the development of teaching materials to improve the quality of Basic Education;

c) the analysis of transversal themes and the construction of educational products and interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and eco-training educational projects;

d) mastery and use of digital technologies to improve the quality of Basic Education;

e) the analysis of teaching health and its relationship with training and professional performance.

Considering that the PPGEB/UNIARP is committed to the training of teachers, managers and researchers who investigate and transform educational institutions and their own performance, it encourages the development of teaching, research and extension activities in partnership with the International Network of Schools Creative – RIEC.

The RIEC has among its objectives: to contribute to the identification, enhancement and creation of creative, transdisciplinary and eco-forming educational practices, through teaching, research and extension activities committed to living well in the personal, social and environmental spheres; to enhance a culture of metamorphosis among managers so that they promote open and flexible teacher training in relation to their transforming role; contribute so that Basic Education schools are linked to a community of knowledge, aiming at the exchange of experiences, challenges and initiatives; to encourage research and the creation of instruments that make it possible to identify schools that stand out for their creative and transforming potential; to enhance network publishing, valuing schools and professionals who develop creative, transdisciplinary and eco-forming practices; collaboratively organize events to reflect on educational demands and spread creative, transdisciplinary and eco-forming practices.

Integration with Basic Education

The interaction of PPGEB/UNIARP with Basic Education occurs through teaching, research and extension activities. Provided for in the Strategic Planning, the activities take place both at UNIARP and in the Basic Education schools themselves and are identifiable in the following goals:

  • Annually carry out training activities in Basic Education with the involvement of teachers and students and/or graduates of PPGEB/UNIARP, including:

 

– Training-Action Program in Creative Schools;

– Workshops for the elaboration of Creative Ecotraining Projects (PCE);

– Lectures that meet specific demands of Basic Education;

– Collaboration in the elaboration/review of documents of municipal education networks and Basic Education schools;

  • Annually provide vacancies for free participation of managers and teachers of Basic Education in events promoted by PPGEB/UNIARP:

    The goal has been achieved annually, one of the examples being the participation in the International Congress on Education and Health held by PPGEB/UNIARP, in 2020, which was attended by national and international participants, among them, Edgar Morin.

 

  • Produce publications annually with teachers of Basic Education Education and in collaboration with researchers and international institutions:

    The goal has been achieved, including publications in collaboration with the Red Internacional de Escuelas Creativas (RIEC). Integration with Graduation

To expand the interaction of professors, students and graduates with undergraduate courses, PPGEB/UNIARP has held a series of events linked to the development of disciplines. These are events that enable dialogue with undergraduates, with Basic Education professionals and with researchers from Brazil and abroad, the deepening of content from different disciplines and the appreciation of educational products linked to research carried out at PPGEB/UNIARP. Are they:

The interaction of professors with undergraduate courses has also been stimulated with: teaching in disciplines in undergraduate courses, the guidance of Undergraduate thesis, holding lectures at events promoted by UNIARP or by specific courses and co-authorship in publications.

Internationalization

PPGEB/UNIARP systematically carries out internationalization activities, benefiting teachers, students and graduates, as well as Basic Education professionals who have the opportunity to participate in part of the actions developed during the academic schedule.

International events or with the participation of international researchers:

– Basic Education Research Seminar: with the third edition taking place in 2021, the event is promoted annually by PPGEB/UNIARP, prioritizing the participation of an international speaker.

– Seminar on innovative practices in management and teaching: with the sixth edition taking place in 2021, the event is promoted annually by PPGEB/UNIARP, prioritizing the participation of an international speaker.

– International Seminar on Teaching and Research with Intervention: second edition held in 2020, the event is promoted annually by PPGEB/UNIARP, prioritizing the participation of an international speaker and the publication of an e-book, the result of a partnership with other institutions of National and international higher education.

– International Congress on Education and Health: with the first edition taking place in 2021, the event intends to be promoted every two years by PPGEB/UNIARP. In the first edition held in 2020, speakers from Brazil, Bolivia, Spain, France, Mexico and Portugal participated.

Participation in the International Network of Escuelas Creativas – RIEC:

The PPGEB/UNIARP coordinates one of the nuclei of the International Network of Escuelas Creativas: RIEC UNIARP. Mobility:

PPGEB/UNIARP started its mobility activities in 2019, prioritizing the participation of students and faculty in international teaching, research and extension activities.

 

– Mobility of students from abroad: the first academic mobility initiative took place in 2020, when the PPGEB/UNIARP had the remote participation of two students from the Doctoral Program in Educational Sciences at the Simón Bolívar University (USB) in Colombia to carry out of research activities. Among the results of the exchange, two articles were published in impact journals:

 

– Teacher mobility: in 2019, the first mobility initiative of a PPGEB/UNIARP teacher took place with the participation of teaching and extension activities in the Doctoral Program in Educational Sciences at the Simón Bolívar University (USB), Colombia. Among the activities, he coordinated the seminar for the presentation of research projects by the doctoral students, held during the third year of the doctoral students’ attendance in that program, and participated as a speaker at the VI SIMPOSIO INTERNACIONAL DE EDUCACIÓN, FORMACIÓN DOCENTE Y PRÁCTICA PEDAGÓGICA EN CONTEXTO: educación emergente , transcendent and knowledge necessary for planetary human formation.
